Lauren Howell Eglin is a Nationally Board-Certified Counselor (NCC), Nationally Board-Certified School Counselor (NCSC), and Licensed Counselor (LPC). She received a Master’s degree from LSU in School Counseling in 1997 and a Specialist’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from LSU in 2020. Lauren currently works in both a school setting and in part-time private practice. Lauren brings a unique perspective to working with children and families as she is a parent of three, a teacher for seven years before becoming a school counselor for 20+ years, and a clinical mental health counselor with a specialization in treating anxiety.

 

Lauren is a Certified Clinical Child and Adolescent Anxiety Professional (CCATP-CA). She works with children (6 and up), adolescents, college-aged students, adults, and families in her practice. In addition to treating anxiety and other anxiety-related issues, Lauren has experience working with self-esteem, family issues, interpersonal issues, grief and loss, school related difficulties, adjustment issues, and personal growth-values focused living. Lauren also provides parent coaching.

 

Lauren typically approaches counseling from a Cognitive-Behavioral perspective, but she uses interventions and techniques from multiple theories including Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Adlerian, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She also incorporates bibliotherapy, neurobiology, mindfulness, play therapy, art therapy, and other expressive arts.

 

Lauren is a member of the Louisiana Counseling Association, American Counseling Association, and American School Counseling Association.
